Can this tell me if my ex was a narcissist?
No. Nothing on the internet can, and this page does not claim to. It tells you what they read as on six axes, from twenty things you watched them do, and how that compares with everyone who has been rated. A diagnosis needs a clinician, a history, and the person in the room.
Why rate someone I am no longer with?
Because the pattern is what you take into the next one. Naming what you were dealing with is how you recognise it earlier, and the Index shows you how common the pattern you lived with actually is.
Is it fair to score them without them here?
It is a reading of what you saw, not a verdict on who they are. Informant ratings, where someone who knew a person answers about them, are a standard method in the research precisely because self-report misses what you watched.
