Creating Masks

This is going to be controversial advice and the opposite of everything that you've heard from other people. Authenticity is not your friend. Authenticity is going to get you demoted, it's going to get you out of the rooms you're meant to be in. Do you think successful politicians are authentic?

Do you think that they lead with personal information when they go door knocking on a Saturday morning trying to outreach to campaigners? No. They tell people what they actually want to hear. And I'm not saying you have to hate yourself or you have to change yourself entirely.

You just need to understand that your personality is great for you, but it doesn't suit everyone around you. And if you want people to actually gravitate to you, to listen to you, to value you, you need to change that. I'm not saying never be your true personality, but you can save that for people you actually care about like your friends in the close family. You can make your own masks.
