Okay, so it's really hard dealing with narcissists in general, but in terms of your mom, you need to be completely emotionally detached from any interactions that you have because narcissists are very good at pointing out your flaws and mocking you and choosing to elevate themselves over you at every given opportunity. They will never miss a low blow. They will never miss an opportunity to kick you when you're down. That's kind of their specialty.
When you're dealing with her, you need to be completely logical, rational, and keep things on your terms. If she gets out of line, she starts insulting you, she uses words that you don't like, she crosses your boundaries, she's cruel. That's when you can sort of rein yourself back in, like, I will not let myself be treated like this. This is not acceptable.
I'm telling you this from experience because I have severe narcissists in my family, and dealing with them is hell, is genuinely hell for me. Because narcissists will never, like, learn or change or be better as humans. They will always try and find the lowest common denominator and attack constantly. They will look for your weak spots.
